About the talk

At SingularityU Australia we thrive at the intersection of the Values of Humanity with the Value of Technology. The convergence of technologies means that anything is possible if we have the right mindset, a diverse team and a passion to impact the world for good. This session will introduce you to Exponential Thinking and how impossible can become possible.

Exponential technologies are those which are rapidly accelerating and shaping major industries and all aspects of our lives. Exponential technologies include artificial intelligence (AI), augmented and virtual reality (AR, VR), data science, digital biology and biotech, medicine, nanotech and digital fabrication, networks and computing systems, robotics, and autonomous vehicles. The solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges lie at the intersection of these exponential technologies. That is, when two or more of these technologies are used in combination, what is NOT possible?

For example, consider a potential healthcare solution that leverages machine learning, public health records, and individual genetic profiles to help prevent heart disease. Consider the use of Augmented and Virtual Realities to teach history in our schools and allowing students to ‘be there’. These are the types of solutions we are trying to enable through the innovation and learning platform we provide.

There’s no problem that we cannot solve when we apply exponential technologies and innovative ways of thinking. This approach is also referred to as an “abundance mindset.”

At SingularityU Australia, we have a hopeful outlook on the world and our future, and so we focus our energies on empowering others to create the abundant future we envision.

Christina will join us via video from Sydney, Australia

About LAST Anywhere Talks

LAST stands for Lean, Agile and Systems Thinking. It was born out of meetup groups and then a conference, started in Melbourne AU in 2012. Since then, it grew to also be held in Sydney, Brisbane, Canberra and Adelaide. 1st Conference (Organisational Agility) and Spark the Change Melbourne (Meaning and Purpose at work and in society) are related conferences.

LAST Anywhere talks and workshops draw subject matter from the full range of topics covered by LAST, 1st and Spark the Change. Delivered online, they aim to provide non-formal learning and valuable interactions, and extend on the value provided by physical events.

All you need is a good internet connection, a webcam, headphones, and a microphone. Also, you will need the focus to be present and make the most of the session.
